ISBN for a doctoral thesis

Before you send your doctoral thesis to print it will need a unique ID. This is called an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and is usually printed on the cover page of the doctoral thesis. You are assigned two ISBNs, one for the printed version and one for the electronic version. Both numbers must be included in both versions.

The application procedure for an ISBN is handled by the University Library, regardless of which department you belong to.

Practical information session in preparation for the defence

Together with the faculty, the Library of Science organises an information session designed to guide you through the final stage of the dissertation process. The session is tailored for doctoral students employed at the Faculty of Science (not LTH) who have about 6 months left until their public defence. This is a recurring event and the sessions are given three times a year (find dates in the library calendar).

During the session, we'll walk you through:

  • Key deadlines.
  • How to book a date for your thesis defence.
  • What to consider before printing your thesis.
  • Announcement and registration of the thesis.

There will also be time for questions, and we’ll be happy to answer any queries or concerns you may have about the process.
